D-Day Parachute Artifact Display
Product Description
This is a genuine piece of camouflaged T-5 Parachute canopy used in Normandy, on D-Day, 6 June 1944. On that day, more than 13,000 American paratroopers dropped into the coastline region of Normandy, France. This section of parachute canopy was used on D-Day by John Seney, 101st Airborne division, a.k.a "Screaming Eagles". During the invasion, the division was scattered miles away from the landing zones due to bad weather and intense enemy ground fire. An estimated 4,500 of the division's 6,928 paratroopers were either killed, wounded, or missing during the battle. Despite the overwhelming odds, they managed to take many of their objectives on D-Day and complete their mission over the next few days.
