El Buho is known for making a quality, affordable mezcal from agave Espadin, but is now expanding into the wild agave territory with this limited edition agave Tepeztate. Production of El Buho mezcals are overseen by the family matriarch Elsa Jaurez Mendez and her husband, Master Mezcalero Octavio Jiménez Monterroza. The agaves in Lot 2 were sourced in Santa Maria Zoquitlan, Oaxaca and the resulting mezcal was rested in stainless steel tanks for 20 months. According to El Buho, agave Tepeztate requires a 3rd distillation due to its low sugar content.
