The 2011 Dow's Late Bottled Vintage Port is the long-awaited LBV (Late Bottled Vintage) counterpart to Dow's Vintage Port 2011, the Wine Spectator’s #1 Wine of 2014.

It is characterized by an unusual combination of elegance with power and structure. Whereas “elegant” usually implies lighter-bodied, the 2011 has fantastic aromas and great elegance but is a big wine – not an easy balance to achieve. It pairs wonderfully with chocolate desserts and hard cheeses like aged cheddar or creamy blue.

Port is best served in classic Port wine glassware or white wine glasses. Avoid cordial or liqueur glasses as they are too small to fully appreciate the wine’s aromas.

This wine was also awarded 94 points by Wine & Spirits Magazine, who said: "This offers more immediate pleasures than the vintage Dow's declared in 2011—it comes across as an idealized Late Bottle Vintage rather than a baby Vintage. Formidable in its black density and red spice, fragrant with persimmon-like scents and tannins that have the grit of stone-ground chocolate, this is compellingly drinkable and delicious.
