Dom Pérignon was founded in 1668 by Dom Pierre Pérignon, after he was named the cellarer of Hautvillers Abbey, located in the heart of Champagne, France. His mission was to create the best wine in the world, by perfecting and improving on the rudimentary techniques of the time. The wine of Dom Pierre Pérignon was the result of imagination, experimentation and audacity; the achievement of a lifetime dedicated to the quest for perfection.
This limited edition 2005 bottle of Tokujin Yoshioka Limited Edition Rose features a design by artist Tokujin Yoshioka
The wine itself earned 95 points from Wine Spectator, who said: “This rosé Champagne is rich and vinous, offering smoky minerality up front, expanding to show dried raspberry, mandarin orange zest, brioche and espresso crème flavors that ride the fine, lacy mousse. Spice and mineral details persist on the racy finish.”
It also earned an additional 95 points from Antonio Galloni’s Vinous, who said: “The 2005 Dom Pérignon Rosé is intriguing, complex and multi-faceted. Brisk and refreshing, with a slightly herbal (but not unpleasant character), the 2005 is superb today. Over time, the wine has acquired a bit more depth and body than it showed at the outset. Even with all of its depth, though, I would not suggest cellaring the 2005 too long given the challenges of the year. Hints of blood orange, mint, sage and dried flowers add the closing shades of nuance.”
