Product Description

Make your own oldschool cocktail bitters with the 1889 Aromatic Bitters Kit. This kit contains all the botanicals and tools you need to make high-quality homemade bitters with Dash Bitters' historic aromatic bitters recipe. Just add ¾ cup of high-proof bourbon or whiskey (not included) and enjoy the two 4-oz. bottles of bitters that you create.

Of all varieties, aromatic bitters are the most classic and also the most versatile. For the 1889 Aromatic Bitters, Dash Bitters dug through old pharmacists’ journals to find a classic recipe that holds up to our modern tastes while honoring the past. Dried currants, grains of paradise, and warming spices combine to create a balanced flavor profile that brings out the best in classic cocktails like the Manhattan, Mint Julep, and Old Fashioned.

Gina & Brian Hutchinson

Gina and Brian Hutchinson founded Dash Bitters because they wanted to empower home bartenders with the tools, ingredients, and knowledge they need to make world-class cocktail bitters at home.

After becoming engrossed in the current resurgence of classic cocktails, Gina and Brian fell in love with bitters for their infinite variety and power to transform ordinary cocktails into something truly special. After trying many different store-bought bitters, including expensive high-end brands, they decided to try making their own and were amazed by the quality of the results. They were also comforted in knowing that their homemade bitters were made using only all-natural, high-quality ingredients.

Many hours have been put into sourcing rare ingredients, organic and fair-trade whenever possible, and digging through long-lost recipes and developing new ones. After many experiments, refining, and more refining, Gina and Brian want to help other home bartenders enjoy the process (and result) of making bitters at home without a lot of the hassle.
