Dakota Dean’s ceaseless pursuit of self-acceptance and understanding and his compassion for others suffering with mood disorders expresses itself in his works. Using only spray paint and a few satirical news articles, Dakota Dean’s vibrant graffiti backgrounds incorporate bold and edgy stencil overlays, using iconic cultural personalities and images to challenge societal norms with trademark “Dakota” sarcasm. His art questions our addictions: to pop-culture, pharmaceuticals, sex, love, and money; and challenges our desires to conform, and to be unique.
