Product Description

The allure of winegrowing led Jay Corley to Napa Valley in 1969 to purchase land for his first vineyard. Today, the Corley Family farms five Napa Valley vineyards in the Oak Knoll, Yountville, Rutherford, and St. Helena appellations within Napa Valley.

Tietjen Vineyard on Niebaum Lane is a consistent favorite. The Cabernet Sauvignon from this vineyard shows a great core of berry fruit with tremendous brightness. It also adds an elegance and suppleness to the texture, while a small vineyard on Ehlers Lane was planted in the early 1970’s and produces cabernet sauvignon of great power and intensity that gives black-fruit character and rich texture to the wine. The Merlot in the wine comes from block IV on Corley's Home Ranch Vineyard. The Merlot offers gorgeous blueberry and red berry flavors and aromatics. The bright fruit is accompanied by a suppleness that shows in the mouth-feel of the final wine.

The 1998 vintage is characterized by its challenging weather conditions. However, the lower yields increased the juice to skin ratio and led to greater extraction and concentration of fruit flavors, color and intensity.

The Library Collection Proprietary Red is an aromatic medley of blueberry, blackberry, floral and sweet oak tones. Berry aromatics are followed by dark fruit flavors. The wine is rich and the finish is sweet, lingering and smoky.

This wine’s opening stanza is a medley of blueberry, blackberry, floral and sweet oak tones. The chorus is lovely – the tannins laying down a solid rhythmic bass line, while the berry aromatics and dark fruit flavors entertain with an “echo” jam evoking some of the old-school boogie-woogie piano jams. The finish is sweet, lingering and smoky – like the last song of the evening in a downtown jazz club.

This Bordeaux-style blend, which this year contains a bit of Syrah, seems to vary vintage to vintage. The '05 is based on Cabernet Franc. It shows a fine structure and is very dry and tannic, but needs time to soften. However, the oak-infused black cherry, black currant, violet and anise flavors are impressive. Best after 2010. - Wine Enthusiast, 91 Points, Cellar Selection

The outstanding 2005 Proprietary Red Corley... is a heck of a value, especially from high-priced Napa Valley. It offers up loads of perfume, especially flowers, red and black fruits, and forest notes. It is soft, round, opulent, medium to full-bodied, and very seductive. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. - Robert Parker, 90 Points

Attractive aromas of dark, ripe blackberry and raspberry with undertones of cola and cinnamon abound with the 2017 Pinot Noir Block II. On the palate, the wine introduces itself with confidence and following up with a round, full body. For a Pinot Noir bursting with vim and vigor, it balances nicely with a modest and elegant acidity. This is a robust expression of Pinot Noir, true to its grapes, displaying deep, dark ripe berry flavors on the palate that follow through to a long and lingering finish.

The 2017 Monticello Estate-Grown Chardonnay displays a rich golden tone, with brilliant clarity. Expressive aromas of golden apple, figs and ripe pear integrate with richer aromas of light caramel, truffle, and a nice complement of toasted vanillin oak. The appealing, earthy tone makes for a palate that is rich, encompassed by a full-bodied creamy texture, which leads seamlessly into the lingering finish.
