Embarking on a mission to engulf Cordant in Pinot Noir, Cordant Winery has explored many of the roads less travelled, and found themselves selves surrounded by so much more. To say they stumbled upon things they couldn't say “no” to is an understatement. With a base idea and an open mind, they were introduced to exceptional vineyards of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Grenache, and more, all up and down the California Central Coast. The objective then became acquainting themselves with the unique sites that have the most to say, and to do their best to tell their story.

This approach can only excel if you pay close attention to and learn to work in harmony with these premium locations. With a simple, minimalist game plan, this same philosophy of “keeping an open mind” crosses over in the cellar. When you pay attention to the grapes, they tell you what they need. It’s never the other way around.

The 2016 Central Coast Pinot Noir is sourced from a selection of vineyards in Santa Lucia Highlands, Santa Rita Hills, and Edna Valley, where each site is picked at optimum ripeness determined by taste. It boasts loads of fresh potpourri, pomegranate cherry, Palo Santo, and leather on the nose. The nose is confirmed on the palate with added Earl Grey and dried orange peel. Perfectly in balance, this wine is soft and elegant.
