Cookstone
Stewing Pan
Product Description
Cookstone creates their impressive pots and pans from real soapstone. Soapstone is a metamorphic rock that is relatively soft because of its high talc content, and is so-named for it's similar appearance and feel to a bar of soap. For this reason, it's incredibly durable, but still easily pressed into virtually any shape, and becomes harder and tougher when heated.
Popular since the 21st century BC, soapstone has been used for inlaid designs, sculpture, coasters, and kitchen countertops and sinks. The Inuit often use soapstone for traditional carvings. Some Native American tribes make bowls, cooking slabs, and other objects from soapstone, and the Norse Vikings hewed soapstone directly from the stone face, and shaped it into cooking pots.
Following that same ancient tradition, this soapstone Stewing Pan features copper handles, and is designed for preparing amazing dishes with a meat, fish, and vegetable element. After the stove is off, the pan will maintain a constant heat for a long period, but will remain odor-free, and naturally non-stick.
