Tungsten carbide is the hardest of all metals - so hard, in fact, the only thing than can scratch its surface is a diamond. Which is why diamonds had to be used to buff the surface into the perfect polish you see.

And because tungsten is about 10 times harder than 18K gold, five times harder than tool steel, and four times harder than titanium, that polish won't be tarnished or dulled by general wear and tear.
