Brett Weston // Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, 1945
Product Description
After being drafted during World War II, Brett Weston spent time in New York City's Army Pictorial Center, but spent even more of his time wandering the streets with his large 8x10 view camera. Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges is one of the hundreds of moments that he captured, turning the documentary-style photography popular in the 40's on its head with his personal, subjective view of the city. The linear, contrast-driven style seen throughout his career is clearly being developed with this early, intimate image. With a 2" deep frame included for immediate hanging, this print pays a tribute to the artist's ability, as well as the magical bygone days of the city that never sleeps.
