Product Description

Being offered today is a super rare and superb example of a 1938 D Buffalo Nickel error coin!! If you look on the reverse of the coin, the strike is off-center, making this an error coin. Error coins are much harder to find because the mint highly scrutinizes all coins for a perfect strike. It is very rare that these coins are released from the mint into the public.

This Buffalo Nickel is graded by NGC in a Mint State 66. The NGC encapsulation guarantees the coinā€™s MS-66 condition. The coin is starting to show some beautiful toning on both sides of the coin.

This coin is an unusually nice high-end survivor with a sharp strike. The coin shows a nice reflective semi-proof-like obverse and reverse. Not quite worthy of the PL designation, but the appearance adds significantly to the eye appeal. Please see the pictures for details.

The buffalo nickel is technically known as the ā€œFive-Cent Indian Headā€ coin. It's also commonly referred to as the ā€œBuffalo Nickelā€ or ā€œBison Nickelā€ due to the bison on the back and often the ā€œIndian Nickelā€ based on the portrait of a classic American native on the front.

This rare 1938 D Buffalo Nickel is a true gem for any collector. With its impeccable MS 66 grade, certified by NGC, it is a must-have for those who appreciate the value of rare coins. The strike on this coin showcases the intricate details of the design, making it a beautiful addition to any collection.
