1928 $ 100 Federal Reserve 4 Cleveland CU Redeemable in Gold # 056

Being offered today is a VERY RARE excellent example of a 1928 $100.00 Federal Reserve note that is in Choice Uncirculated (CU) condition. This note has another great feature. It is a low serial numbered note. The serial number on this note is D00258056A. This note was among the first notes printed which is identified by the D – A block. The letter D in the serial number stands for the 4th Federal Reserve Bank, located in Cleveland.

This note is from the number “4” Federal Reserve Series which is designated by the “4” on the left side of the note. The number 4 Series is from the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank (see pics). The note carries a dark green seal (DGS) on the right side of the note. This note is very hard to find in this condition. The numbering system was only used in the 1928 series of Federal Reserve Notes.

The upper left of the note states:

“REDEEMABLE IN GOLD ON DEMAND AT THE US TREASURY OR IN GOLD OR LAWFUL MONEY AT ANY FEDERAL RESERVE BANK”. So, at the time you could cash the note in for gold. Pretty cool.

The color just pops off the note. The margins are centered very well, and the ink just pops off the note. The colors are bright and bold. The vibrant colors and well-preserved paper add to its visual eye appeal. The note has fantastic eye appeal. The note shows no sign of wear on the corners or the sides. All of the corners and edges of the note are crisp and clean. There are no pinholes, rips, stains, or tears.
