Are the sensors on the back against the skin to get readings or are the blocked by the band?

The sensors remain in contact with the skin to get readings. There is a cutout in the band which allows constant contact to the skin. No functionality is lost.

Is it waterproof?

Unfortunately, the band is not recommended for water activities. We do recommend however washing with mild soap and water, this will not harm the band.
