1952 New York Giants Signed Baseball
Product Description
Fresh off their world series appearance the previous season and with virtually the same roster of players, the Giants were on their way to another pennant until injuries set in during the latter part of the season. Nonetheless, under the leadership of the fiery Leo Durocher, they still won a respectable 92 games, finishing second to their rivals, the Dodgers.
This ball has a number of special features. It is in the highest grade for what is now considered an "old" ball : it grades Mint Condition. Team baseballs from this era--over 60 years old--are seldom found in this rarefied state of preservation.
It also has an actual autograph of Durocher, appearing alone on the ball's "sweet spot", the area generally reserved for only stars of the team or its manager. It also has 26 dark, fully vintage, blue fountain pen signatures and an unused original cream color. Notables include the very desirable Hank Thompson (d. 1969), Bill Rigney, Larry Jansen, Don "Mandrake the Magician" Mueller, George Bamberger, Bob Elliot, George Spencer, Monte Kennedy, Ray Noble, Wes Westrum , Whitey Lockman, Max Lanier, Chuck Diering, Davey Williams, Sal Yvars, and Dick Wakefield.
