The liquid inside moves around the eyes in the frontal direction (left-right), and in the sagittal direction (front-rear) to create an artificial horizon in the periphery of your visual field without disturbing the central vision. This eliminates the sensory mismatch between the eyes and the inner ears so the symptoms of motion sickness fade in a few minutes.
