Is this a leak proof glass tumbler? Can you drink out of the glass lid. If so, does the portion of the lid that you drink from have a closure mechanism?

Yes, of course, you can drink from the glass. You can´t drink from the lid/ cover, because the lid is used to put the strainer inside after the tea is drawn.
