Hawaiian Coffee Baumkuchen Cake // 2 Tins // 4 oz Each
Product Description
Hawaiian Coffee Baumkuchen is a favorite for all who love coffee—infusing 20 layers of soft, moist Baumkuchen with strong inspiring coffee flavor for an exciting treat.
Baumkuchen in German (Baum = tree, Kuchen = cake) is a cake/bread baked on a stick. Layer after layer is placed on the stick and baked over an open fire. At nearly 570ºF, the outside of the cake turns brown and forms the “annual rings." This elaborate, time-consuming process requires a lot of experience, patience, and concentration. If the cake is baked just a few seconds too long, it will burn, but if it is too moist, the cake may fall off the stick. Because of the high level of experience required, the German Confectioners’ Guild has included the Baumkuchen in its logo.
Baumkuchen has been called the “King of Cakes," but it is also the cake of kings. German royalty came to know and love it after King Frederick William IV of Prussia brought it back to Berlin in 1843. About 20 years later, King William the First had Baumkuchen delivered regularly to his court. Since then, Baumkuchen has been a popular choice in aristocratic society all over the world.
