The Alamo Mission in San Antonio, Texas was originally known as Mission San Antonio de Valero when it was first established by Roman Catholic missionaries in the 18th century. The Alamo would go on to be remembered for the 1836 Battle of the Alamo that occurred during the Texas Revolution.
