Astro West
Triceratops Horn // 26.5" Long
Product Description
This is an incredible fossilized brow horn from a genuine triceratops (Triceratops horridus), one of the most famous dinosaurs. This particular fossil was discovered in the Hell Creek Formation in Montana and is dated back to the Maastrichtian Age, late Cretaceous Period (67-66 million years ago). It is in excellent condition and comes on a custom metal stand.
The triceratops was first found by Arthur Lakes in 1887 just west of Denver, Colorado, in the town of Morrison and named by Othniel Charles Marsh. The skull of the triceratops was heavy and distinctive: with three horns, a parrot-like beak, and a frill that could reach three feet wide, it was one of the largest skulls known to come from any land animal. Reaching a length of about 24 feet, the triceratops is famous for often fighting off the hungry Tyrannosaurs Rex.
