Campo del Cielo Meteorite // 20-25 Grams
Product Description
The Campo del Cielo refers to a group of iron meteorites in Chaco Province of Northern Argentina—about 500 miles northwest of Buenos Aires—which fell an estimated 4,000-6,000 years ago. Possibly the heaviest recorded meteorite, small, dense fragments like these have been collected by humans for at least 500 years and are as pleasing to look at as they are to hold.
The composition of all Campo del Cielo meteorites is 94% iron and 6% nickel. These meteorites also have some silicate inclusions. Even though these meteorites reached Earth thousands of years ago, they are among the oldest in the universe with an estimated age of 4.6 billion years.
