Product Description
This museum quality, natural Oreodont Skeleton hails from Blue Formation Pennington County, South Dakota. Oreodonts are fossil mammals and are one of the most common fossils found in the Badlands. Oreodonts lived from the Middle Eocene through the end of the Miocene from about 40 million to 5 million years ago. They were a type of animal called an artiodactyl, which is an even-toed hoofed mammal. Dating back to ~30 million years before present, these extinct Oligocene mammals roamed what became the White River Badlands of South Dakota.
