The fossilized shells of Ammonites are typically spiral-shaped, very much like that of the Nautilus. However, around 170 million years ago, these squid-like creatures began to build their shells in exotic, highly variable shapes. These ammonites are calcified and opalized, which adds to its shine is color, with glimmers of red and green under the light. They are also hand polised to a mirror finish, so its colors can be most appreciated.
