A beautifully clustered plate of Orthoceras fossils. This school of Orthoceras ("straight horn") are slender, elongated, fossilized shells with the middle of the body chamber transversely constricted, and a subcentral orthochoanitic siphuncle. The surface is ornamented by a network of fine lirae. These fossils date from the Devonian Period, approximately 400 million years old.

The fossilized Orthoceras are displayed in their natural matrix and polished by hand. Its natural monochromatic color story and its shape makes for a very modern and organic display piece that would work nicely in any interior.
