Genuine Permian Cave Fossil (Life Before Dinosaurs) in Display Box
Product Description
This Permian Cave Fossil is from the period just before dinosaurs—an era that saw Earth's first complete ecosystem on land until the Permian extinction where 95% of all life vanished.
While mining for limestone, Permian era caves were discovered by a Fossil Discovery & Rescue team from Paleo Tex who rescued as much as possible before these fossils were destroyed by further mining. This is one of those rescued fossils and is from a rare, cave dwelling species that lived during the Permian era. The Permian witnessed the diversification of the two groups of amniotes, the synapsids and the sauropsids (reptiles). The Carboniferous rainforest collapse left behind vast regions of desert within the continental interior. Amniotes, which could better cope with these drier conditions, rose to dominance in place of their amphibian ancestors.
