Product Description
This lidded offering bowl, or agere, was carved from a single block of wood by a renowned Yoruba sculptor. Agere were used to transport gifts between important leaders. The imagery speaks to the identity of the patron.
This large vessel has extreme detailing with several animal figures supporting the bowl and four crocodile carvings placed atop the lid. The large figure is carved standing up, holding the presentation bowl. There is a beautiful, natural patina throughout the piece.
