Article22
Shard II Necklace // Silver
Product Description
Every piece in the ARTICLE22 collection, is handmade by artisans in Laos, from real scraps of bombs, mines, plane parts, and other metal debris that still litter the area, leftover from the Vietnam War.
At the current rate of removal, it would take up to 800 years to remove all the dangerous, unexploded material from the ground. That's why ARTICLE22 is making an effort to not only speed the process along a bit, but also offer a sustainable livelihood, giving support to local artisans and helping facilitating village development and community endeavors.
Your piece of jewelry directly contributes to MAG (Mines Advisory Group) to safely and expertly clear some of the 80 million unexploded bombs contaminating Laos, making the land safe for farming again.
Transformed into luminous keepsakes, the shard pendants are cast in semi and precious metal, from pieces of iron shrapnel safely de-mined by professional land clearance organizations in Laos. These necklaces become abstract and powerful symbols of the transformation of negative into beautiful and positive.
