Product Description

North Africa, Morocco, upper Cretaceous to Eocene, ca. 93 million years ago to 40,000 years ago. A nice example of a Dryosaurus skull, excavated so that you can peer down upon it from above, noting the structure of its eyes and snout. Dryosaurus is a genus of extinct crocodiles who survived the extinction of the dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous period and thrived for millions more years. They had slender snouts - so well defined here - adapted to living in near-shore marine habitats and munching on fish. The bone structure is spongy and porous, well suited to a fast swimming life.

Extensive deposits/matrix remaining. Mandible is not included and teeth are not visible. Small losses to forehead. Small areas of repair and restoration but over 90% is original. Stabilizing coat on surface.
