It doesn't glow continuously. It needs to charge from a source of light, to glow in the dark.

How long does it glow in the dark?

The lume will last for hours. It will be very bright after being charged from light, and slowly fade out but you will still be able to see it dimly after you adjust your eyes in the darkness.

No, it doesn't have a backlight for seeing the date.
