The first site of the former Loch Lomond distillery dates back to 1814, sited at the north end of Loch Lomond near Tarbet (known as Tarbat). After closing for an unknown amount of years, it was commissioned by the Littlemill Distilling Company in 1965 with first distillation in 1966. In 1984, the distillery closed—or fell silent, to use the traditional term. Alexander Bulloch and the Glen Catrine company acquired the business and resumed malt production in 1987. Grain whisky production began in 1993 and two new malt stills were added in 1999.

Loch Lomond 's The Open Special Edition 2022 celebrates a partnership with The Open and Loch Lomond Golf Ambassador Colin Montgomerie. This years championship is in its 150th year and will be played at the world famous 'Home of Golf' - The Old Course at St. Andrews.

Master Distiller Michael Henry has chosen to mature this limited expression in traditional American oak casks before a finish in Bordeaux red wine barriques to add fruity character and complexity. Expect Loch Lomond's classic fruit, honey and soft smoke character, complemented by a fresh burst of strawberry, peach and lime, a creamy fudge sweetness and lingering oak spice.
