FAQ
The AnySharp Pro can sharpen titanium or carbon steel knives.
Does it work only on kitchen knives? It works with all knives, even wide serrated blades, except for Japanese blades.
Can it sharpen scissors? No, the AnySharp Pro is not designed to sharpen scissors.
Will this sharpen ceramic knives? No, it's not designed for sharpening ceramic knives.
Will it sharpen Damascus steel blades?Yes, it can sharpen Damascus steel blades. The user needs to hold the knife upright when pulling through, as instructed. The side of the knife doesn't go near the sharpener so the pattern on the side of the blade is not touched.
Are the sharpening steels replaceable?Unfortunately, we do not offer replacement sharpening blades at this time.
Approximately how many times will it sharpen a knife before it no longer works? There is no exact answer to that question. Some knives need more strokes than others, either because they are blunter or made using harder steel.
AnySharps sharpening blades have been tested to 10,000 operations.
So, if you are just honing your knife (3 to 4 strokes) a couple of times a week then it will last about 20 years.
If you are sharpening a totally blunt knife (8 to 10 strokes) twice every week then it lasts about 10 years.
While it will sharpen virtually any knife in your kitchen (including expensive hardened steel and serrated blades), we can not guarantee the same for sharpening an axe.
