Product Description
A lovely Gandharan stucco head from the Indus Valley, c. 4th - 5th Century AD. This superbly detailed sculpture is masterfully carved from stucco and depicts the Buddha. He is portrayed with a serene countenance, urna, elongated ears with pierced lobes and hair gathered in a topknot. A small stone is embedded at the throat and traces of red pigment typical of the Hadda types remain in the hairline. In exceptional condition. Mounted on stand.
