Product Description
Ancient Rome, c. 3rd - 4th Century AD. The great bronze bread-stamp is deeply engraved with “L-V-POSTVMIVVARIS,” most likely the name of the merchant. It was done in retrograde, so when the bread was stamped it would read properly. It features a large handle with and angled shoulder and top.
