Ancient Egypt. 3rd Intermediate Period, 21st Dynasty, c. 1075 - 945 BCE. Wonderful Egyptian bicolor faience ushabti or burial figure, a servant to the deceased in the afterlife. Depicted mummiform, wearing tripartite wig with seshed headband, arms folded at chest, hands holding hoes, bag at center of back and vertical column of hieroglyphic text from the Book of the Dead down the front of the legs. Excellent blue color with well defined text in black.
