Excellent Byzantine Cross Lamp // 6th Century AD
Product Description
Excellent and large Byzantine bronze lamp with large cross, c. 6th Century AD. The omega-shaped body with flat shoulders that extend as flanges around the periphery and the spout is upturned. The ring handle is surmounted by a large cross, a hinge for the now-missing lid before, and the ring base on bottom with square mounting socket projecting up into the body. Corrosion hole on underside. A very interesting and attractive example!
