Scarce Civil War Colt Model 1849 // The Gun That Won The West
Product Description
A fantastic antique Long-barrel Colt Model 1849 Percussion Pocket Revolver, manufactured in 1862, during the heat of the Civil War. Scarce 5” barrel! In nice condition for its age, with all serial numbers correctly matching, and with its original wood grips. Signs of wear and use overall, including much “holder wear”, some pitting and various scuffs and dents. The dings on the butt often occurred from the pistol having been used as a hammer or tool in a pinch. The barrel has the two-line Samuel Colt New York address “ADDRESS CCL SAM’L COLT NEW YORK CITY”. The 5-shot round cylinder is worn but still shows traces of a stagecoach robbing scene that was once engraved on it, along with “COLTS PATENT” and serial number 202238. It cycles properly, but this is an antique and not warranted safe to shoot and it should not be attempted without the aid of an expert. An excellent addition to any collection! Colt Serial No. 202238. FIVE-inch octagonal barrel, .31 Caliber. Entire pistol length 10 inches. With attractive custom metal stand (entire piece stands 5 inches tall). A fantastic display piece with a ton of history and eye appeal. ** The Colt model 1849 is sometimes referred-to as the Gun that Won the West as it was the preferred sidearm of cowboys, outlaws and lawmen alike during the Gold Rush and Westward Expansion.
