"Oak Island Type" Coin! Spanish copper cob. "Pirate Money" of Philip IV (1621-1665 AD). Copper 8-Maravedis "cob" struck c. 1625 depicting a lion and castle. Heavily counterstamped with "1652" and "8" when revalued in 1652.

Nearly identical to the copper 8-Maravedis "Cob" discovered by the guys on Oak Island, as featured in the History Channel show "Curse of Oak Island." The island has a known history of pirates, having been a safe haven for Captain Kidd. This coin offered is the same type, however land-found in Spain. Deep olive-green patina with earthen deposits.
