Product Description

Medieval Europe, c. 13th-15th century AD. Large bronze archer's ring. To protect their hands during battle, archers wore a ring on their thumb to protect the pad when drawing back the bowstring. This action was done by hooking the thumb around the string just under the arrow, and bracing it against the first finger.

Nicely incised details, imitating the visor of a Greek or Roman helmet. Excellent glossy olive-green patina.
