Scarce Civil War Colt Model 1849 // The Gun That Won The West
Product Description
This antique Long-barrel Colt Model 1849 Percussion Pocket Revolver was manufactured in 1856 with a scarce 5” barrel! The Colt model 1849 is sometimes referred-to as the Gun that Won the West as it was the preferred sidearm of cowboys, outlaws, and lawmen alike during the Gold Rush and Westward Expansion. It's in nice condition for its age, with all serial numbers correctly matching, and with its original wood grips. Signs of wear and use overall, including some pitting and various scuffs and dents. The barrel has the two-line Samuel Colt New York address “ADDRESS CCL SAM’L COLT NEW YORK CITY”. The 5-shot round cylinder is worn but still shows only the slightest traces of a stagecoach robbing scene that was once engraved on it, along with “COLTS PATENT” and serial number. It cycles properly, but the hammer doesn’t tend to stay at cock. This is an antique and not warranted safe to shoot and it should not be attempted without the aid of an expert.
Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
