Early Belgian Flintlock Pistol // Mid 1800's
Product Description
A very nice Belgian flintlock naval pistol made in the 1840s-1860s. The pistol features a 9-inch .69 bore barrel, and sideplate marked with the Belgian oval cartouche proof mark. Heavy steel fittings with brass furniture and heavy brass butt and lanyard. The wood displays a wonderful dark patina. The lanyard loop at the base of the butt allowed this pistol, along with a second one, to be hung on either end of a scarf, so while swiftly boarding an enemy vessel both pistols would be loaded and ready for use.
In excellent, clean condition with only minor cracks and wood splits. Action is strong and smooth; smoothbore is bright showing overall frosting.
