Roman Bronze Oil Lamp // 1st Century AD
Product Description
An excellent Roman bronze oil lamp, c. 1st Century AD. Nicely made, with routed body, flat top, and rounded nozzle. The lamp has a circular wick-hole and a flat top; raised base with internal ‘lathe-turned’ moldings. There is a crescent-shaped handle at back (the tips missing), and two small pierced lugs at the sides for hanging. The remains of the ancient chain still visible within one of the lugs. The base nicely lathed. Choice patina!
