Medieval Armenia, time of the Crusades. Cilician Kingdom, King Levon I (1198 - 1219 AD). Large copper tank, Sis mint. Bearded leonine head of king Levon 3/4 facing front. His crown has five dots. Armenian inscription: "+ Levon King of the Armenians" / Patriarchal cross with two stars in lower field, Armenian inscription: "+ Struck in the City of Sis”. Excellent detail, glossy dark olive-green patina. Ref: Nercessian ACV #301-307 for type. Encapsulated and certified Extremely Fine Details by NGC! Coin diameter 28mm, archival slab measures 3.125" x 2.125" x 0.375”.
