Parthia, ancient Persia. King Vologases III 105-147 AD. Excellent silver drachm, set into custom .925 silver bezel and 20-inch Italian silver chain. The front depicts the bust of the king facing left with long beard and wearing diadem with loop at the top and three ends; border of dots around. The back depicts the archer Arsakes wearing bashlyk and cloak seated right on throne, holding bow, "King of Kings" inscription in Greek around. ref: Sellwood 78-79 for type. Total bezel diameter 21mm. Excellent portrait, grades Choice Extremely Fine.
