Product Description

This is a large silver tetradrachm, Attica, Athens, ancient Greece, circa 454-404 BC. Helmeted Head of Athena is shown on the right, wearing crested helmet ornamented with olive leaves, palmette and spiral. there's an owl standing right, head facing and olive sprig and crescent to the left. These coins funded the building of the Acropolis and Parthenon in Athens, as well as funding the Peloponnesian War (431 - 404 BC) between Athens and Sparta.
