A shipwreck treasure coin set in silver pendant. The copper coin was recovered from the wreck of the HMS Admiral Gardner, sunk in early 1809. Nice copper "X Cash" coin minted by the East India Company in 1808. The Admiral Gardner had just left port from England bound for India, filled with supplies for the East India Company's overseas operations when she went down in a storm in the English Channel in 1809. This coin was discovered, along with the ship, nearly 200 years later. Obv: Coat of Arms awarded to the East India Company by the English Crown in 1698, 'EAST INDIA COMPANY 1808' around / Rev: Persian inscription of value in the diplomatic language of Mughal, India - 'X or 10 Cash' - an equivalent of 3/4 farthing in 1808. Set into stunning custom .925 silver bezel and 18-inch Italian silver chain. Bezel diameter 27mm (1 1/16") and comes with certificate with information about the wreck.
