Dentist/Dental Tooth Extraction Forcep // 18th Century
Product Description
A large iron forcep dating from the 1700s-early 1800s used by a dentist or doctor to remove a patient’s tooth. An uncomfortable process, one must surmise, from a time before anesthesia. The screaming patient would be held back against a head board, while the doctor crimped these forceps around the problematic tooth, and the curved form allowed maximum leverage while the tooth was swiftly yanked out of the jaw. The slightly cupped edges of these forceps indicate these were used for this specific purpose. This makes one glad to be living in the 21st century.
