This excellent bronze medal of Philippe IV "le Bel" of France was struck in 1837. Excellent relief with stunning detail of the crowned king in chain-maille armor, small signature "CAQUE" below. Reverse with inscription "PHILIPPE IV DIT LE BEL 46 EME ROI FILS DE PHILIPPE LE HARDI NE 1268 ROI 1285". Great piece with original golden patina, in mint condition.
