Product Description
A lovely Gandharan stucco head from the Indus Valley, c. 4th - 5th Century AD. This superbly detailed sculpture masterfully carved from stucco and depicts the Buddha. He is portrayed with a serene countenance, prominent urna highlighted in red, hair held in place with a headband and gathered in a topknot. Traces of red pigment typical of the Hadda types remain on the lips. In exceptional condition.
