First Jewish War. Jewish Revolt Against Rome, 66-70 C.E. Bronze prutah. Dated year 2=67/68 C.E. Two handled amphora, ancient Hebrew inscription "Year Two" / Grape leaf on small vine, "The Freedom of Zion" in Hebrew. ref: Meshorer 196; Hendin 1360 for type. They have a beautiful dark olive green patina with earthen highlights, excellent detail.

*This coin was minted and circulated during the time of Josephus, the Jewish War, and the standoff at Masada. These very same types of coins have been excavated atop the mountaintop fortress of Masada, and have earned the name "Masada coins."
