Product Description
Luristan, ancient Persia, c. 1200 - 800 BC. Excellent, huge bronze spearhead. Long, gracefully tapered, leaf-shaped blade with thin raised mid-rib and 'rat-tail' tang where it would have been affixed to the spear shaft. Intact with wonderful smooth olive-green patina and earthen deposits overall.
From the Estate of George Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan from 1965-2000.
